During a nest check on 15 March, Landlord Jim noticed a peculiar mark on one of the gourd G owl guards. Upon closer inspection it appeared to be a large drip of blood. Theories for this include an owl perched above eating a mouse - but we have no other evidence to back this up.
Nest check on Saturday revealed nothing abnormal. Looks like about 12 adult martins are in the colony at this time. We verified the Dr. Bronners peppermint soap was still holding on the gourd lids and installed some netting above the predator can to add yet another barrier to any starry-eyed snakes.
